about

A while back, Kristian Børresen posted in the FAWM forums that he had a John Lennon "Imagine"-ish instrumental that someone was welcome to work with. How could I resist such an offer?! (Answer: I could not!) So I took Kristian's lovely little instrumental, came up with some vocal melodies, wrote some lyrics, then I recorded said lyrics. Voila!

lyrics

You see black and blue
While I see white and gold
I don't care
Why should we endeavour?
Can't live forever
Just take it day by day

Even though you cannot see
All these colours as I see
It doesn't mean we can't feel
Colours fade away
Every single day
Black, blue, white, and gold

I see white and gold
While you see black and blue
I don't care
We can't live forever
So let's endeavour
To take it day by day

Even though I cannot see
All these colours as you see
It doesn't mean we can't feel
Colours fade away
Every single day
Black, blue, white, and gold

And as the years go by
I often wonder why you
Let me in your life
And when you see that dress
Which to me is white and gold
And say it's black and blue
I still love you

And I can feel all those colours fade away
Every single day
Yes, I can feel those colours fade away
Every single day
There's no black or gold or white or blue -
Just I love you

about

Deaf Steever Winnipeg, Manitoba

I try to come up with ideas and riffs that catch my ear, and then I piece 'em together until something (hopefully) slightly catchy and coherent emerges. I reckon that sums up my approach to songwriting. :-)

"Well, sir, I just make it sound like I think it ought to." - Mississippi John Hurt, when asked how he created his songs.

Cheers from Winnipeg, Canada, y'all! Go, Jets, go!!!
